No Weight Plates? I'll Shrug It Off.
Share
No weight plates in my home gym workout today.
That's something I can shrug off.
Literally.
I'm starting with barbell shrugs, moving into overhead presses, and letting my dumbbells handle all the resistance.
Thanks to Dualbell, the dumbbells I already own can do more than traditional dumbbell exercises. They can also serve as resistance on a bar.
And in this workout, they're really rolling with it.
Can You Do Barbell Exercises Without Weight Plates?
Absolutely, provided you have the right equipment.
Traditional barbells use weight plates for resistance. But with Dualbell dumbbell converters, compatible dumbbells can serve that same basic purpose on a standard 1-inch bar.
That means you can perform a variety of barbell movements without buying and storing a separate collection of weight plates.
For someone building a home gym around dumbbells, that's an additional way to make existing equipment more useful.
Shrugs, Presses, and a Little Rotation
My workout begins with barbell shrugs.
Then I move into overhead presses, bringing the bar back down to my waist between repetitions.
That's where something interesting happens.
Watch the dumbbells as I lower the bar. They rotate naturally while mounted on it.
The rotation is a characteristic of Dualbell's design, allowing the dumbbells to move as the bar changes position.
It creates a different lifting experience from a conventional barbell loaded with plates.
And it gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “my dumbbells roll with it.”
Why Buy More Equipment When Yours Can Do More?
There's nothing wrong with owning weight plates. They're useful, and plenty of home gyms have them.
But not every home gym needs every type of equipment.
If you already own dumbbells, you may be able to use them for more exercises than you originally expected.
With Dualbell, compatible dumbbells can provide resistance for:
- Barbell shrugs
- Overhead presses
- Bench presses
- Bent-over rows
- Deadlifts
- Barbell curls
- Landmine exercises
The same dumbbells can then be removed from the bar and used individually.
That's the idea behind Dualbell: more training options without automatically needing more equipment.
Made for the Dumbbells You Already Own
Dualbell dumbbell converters are made in the USA from durable Nylon 66.
They're designed for standard 1-inch (25 mm) bars and work with most fixed dumbbells and many adjustable dumbbell models, depending on handle compatibility.
Dualbell has been independently lab tested up to 1,900 lbs, with a maximum recommended load of a 125 lb dumbbell per converter.
As with any resistance training equipment, use suitable collars, confirm compatibility, and choose a weight you can control safely.
Plates Optional. Dumbbells Always Working.
My home gym isn't about collecting every possible piece of equipment.
It's about finding more ways to use what I already have.
Some days that means a bench press. Other days it's deadlifts, rows, or landmine exercises.
Today it's shrugs and overhead presses.
