Independent Dualbell Review: Three Weeks in a Fully Equipped Home Gym

Home gym equipment reviewer Jonas Malady spent about three weeks training with Dualbell before sharing where it fit into his workouts, who he believes it may help most and how he expects to use it going forward.

That extended trial makes his perspective particularly useful. This was not simply an unboxing or first-impression video. Jonas used Dualbell for curls, triceps extensions, shoulder presses and other movements before explaining what worked for him and where the product fits within a home gym.

Finding a New Role in an Already Complete Gym

Jonas already trains in a fully equipped shed gym with barbells, weight plates and adjustable dumbbells. He does not need Dualbell to replace his existing equipment for major compound lifts. Instead, he found that Dualbell added something different to his accessory training.

The dumbbells rotate naturally while attached to the bar, creating a different feel during curls, triceps extensions and shoulder presses. After putting it through several weeks of workouts, Jonas summarized his experience this way:

“Where I think this product shines the most is accessory movements.”

He enjoyed those movements enough to say that he will probably use Dualbell more often than his standard 1-inch plates for EZ-bar curls and triceps extensions.

His review is also a useful reminder that a home-gym product does not have to replace every piece of equipment to earn its place. For Jonas, Dualbell created another way to use equipment he already owned and made several familiar accessory movements more enjoyable.

A Space-Saving Option for Smaller Home Gyms

Jonas also considered Dualbell from the perspective of someone building a gym in an apartment or another limited space. Rather than purchasing and storing both dumbbells and a separate collection of weight plates, a lifter can use fixed or compatible adjustable dumbbells as weight on a standard 1-inch bar.

That can expand a compact setup to include bench presses, squats, deadlifts, rows, overhead presses, curls, triceps extensions and landmine exercises. Different standard 1-inch bars can also be added as training needs evolve.

Dualbell dumbbell to barbell converters fit dumbbell handles with at least 4.25 inches of usable length and a maximum diameter of 1.38 inches. Shoppers using adjustable dumbbells can review our Adjustable Dumbbell Compatibility Guide for confirmed models and measurement instructions.
