Works With Traditional and Adjustable Dumbbells
Share
One of the most common questions people ask about Dualbell is whether it works with adjustable dumbbells.
The answer is yes — Dualbell dumbbell to barbell converters work with most traditional dumbbells and many popular adjustable dumbbells, giving home gym users even more ways to train with equipment they already own.
And if you already chose adjustable dumbbells because you wanted to save space and get more versatility from less equipment, Dualbell can take that idea even further.
Why Adjustable Dumbbells Have Become So Popular
Adjustable dumbbells make a lot of sense for home gyms.
Instead of storing an entire rack of fixed-weight dumbbells, one adjustable pair can provide multiple weight options while taking up a fraction of the space.
For someone training in an apartment, spare bedroom, basement or garage gym, that's a big advantage.
But adjustable dumbbells are still primarily designed for dumbbell exercises.
That's where Dualbell can add another layer of versatility.
Making Adjustable Dumbbells More Adjustable
We've used the phrase “Make Adjustable Dumbbells More Adjustable” in some of our videos because it captures the idea pretty well.
Dualbell doesn't change the weight-adjustment mechanism of your dumbbells.
It changes what you can do with them.
By attaching Dualbell around the dumbbell handle, compatible adjustable dumbbells can be used as weight on a standard 1-inch bar.
That opens the door to barbell-style exercises including:
- Bench presses
- Squats
- Deadlifts
- Romanian deadlifts
- Bent-over rows
- Overhead presses
- Bicep curls
- Landmine exercises
When you're finished, remove the dumbbells from the bar and use them normally again.
Same dumbbells. More exercise options.
Use the Dumbbells You Already Own as Weight Plates
Traditional home gym setups often include several different categories of strength equipment.
You might have dumbbells for dumbbell exercises, weight plates for your barbell, and then storage for all of it.
Dualbell dumbbell to barbell converters offer another approach.
Instead of requiring traditional weight plates for every barbell-style exercise, Dualbell allows compatible dumbbells to serve as the weight on your bar.
That can be especially useful for someone who already owns a good set of dumbbells but doesn't want to purchase or store an additional collection of plates.
It's also why one of our favorite ways to describe Dualbell is:
Use dumbbells as plates.
Which Dumbbells Work With Dualbell?
Dualbell was designed to work with most traditional dumbbells and many adjustable dumbbells.
The key measurement is the dumbbell handle.
Dualbell accommodates compatible dumbbell handles up to approximately 1.38 inches (35 mm) in diameter.
That means many traditional hex, rubber, urethane and other fixed dumbbells can work with Dualbell, along with a variety of adjustable dumbbell designs.
Because adjustable dumbbells vary significantly in handle shape and construction, it's always important to check compatibility before purchasing.
Once Dualbell is attached to the dumbbell, its loading shaft fits onto any standard 1-inch bar.
That can include straight bars, EZ curl bars, triceps bars and other specialty bars that use standard 1-inch weight plates.
One Pair of Dumbbells Can Do a Lot More
This is where the combination gets interesting for a compact home gym.
Imagine having a pair of adjustable dumbbells that already replaces multiple pairs of fixed dumbbells.
Those dumbbells can handle your dumbbell presses, goblet squats, lateral raises, curls, rows and other traditional dumbbell exercises.
Add a pair of Dualbell dumbbell converters and a standard 1-inch bar, and those same dumbbells can now provide resistance for many barbell-style movements as well.
You haven't stopped using them as dumbbells.
You've simply given them another job.
That's the concept behind another phrase we've used frequently:
Your dumbbells can do more.
Traditional Dumbbells Work Too
Of course, you don't need adjustable dumbbells to use Dualbell.
Traditional fixed dumbbells work extremely well with the system and can offer some advantages of their own.
If you already have a collection of fixed dumbbells, Dualbell gives you the ability to choose different dumbbell weights depending on the exercise you're performing.
You can also combine dumbbells using multiple Dualbells when you need additional resistance.
Our Dualbell Superset, for example, includes four Dualbells and allows you to load two compatible dumbbells on each side of the bar.
That gives someone with an existing dumbbell collection even more ways to put those weights to work.
Plates Are Optional in My Home Gym
Traditional weight plates aren't going anywhere.
They're effective, familiar and make sense for many home gyms.
Dualbell isn't about saying people shouldn't own plates.
It's about giving home gym owners another option.
If you already own dumbbells, have limited storage space, are building a home gym on a budget, or simply want more ways to use the equipment you've already purchased, Dualbell can help expand what those dumbbells can do.
Traditional dumbbells.
Adjustable dumbbells.
Dumbbell exercises.
Barbell-style exercises.
More exercises. Less equipment.
That's what Dualbell was designed to make possible.
Dualbell is Made in the USA from durable Nylon 66. Dualbell has been third-party lab tested up to 1,900 lbs, with a maximum recommended load of a 125 lb dumbbell per Dualbell.
